Windshield replacement is generally preferred if the chip/crack is not repairable. Windshield replacement can be done in 60 minutes or less time duration. After that, it depends on how quickly the adhesives dry up.

Here are few things to keep in mind after you have got a new windshield installed.
Windshield Replacement Toronto

1) Don’t Drive home right away

A new windshield is held in place using a special adhesive, creating a strong and waterproof seal around it. For the best results, it is recommended to wait at least an hour after installation before driving the car again.

2) Clear the inside and outside areas of your vehicle

Though you can drive your car again still the seal is drying at this point.  Do not put a cover over your car and also make sure you park your car in the garage or a covered area to avoid having anything drip, fall, bump, or scrape up against the new seal. Keep the inside and outside areas of your car clear of any clutter that might disturb the newly sealed glass.

3) Keep the window open

Keeping the window open at least one-inch balances the air pressure as it can put an extra amount of stress around your windshield as it dries. Do this the first day after the windshield replacement.

4) Leave the retention tape on.

Do not remove the retention tape that holds the windshield moldings in place while it is still drying. It may not look great, but leaving it on for 2-3 days after your windshield replacement will protect it.

5) Avoid power washers or going to a car wash.

Avoid automatic car washes or power washers for a few days to ensure that your adhesive is not shifted or damaged before it’s fully dried up.
